About
Creativity has been Tobias Farmer’s passion and calling from an early age. As a child, his father ran his own advertising agency where a young Tobias liked to mess around with rub down typography and the wide array of old school art supplies that were available. By the age of five, he began concepting and illustrating his own storyboards. For Tobias’s twelfth birthday, he received his first video camera (the kind that fit a whole VHS tape in it) and immediately began creating his own live-action, stop-motion and documentary films.
Equally attracted to music as he was to the visual arts, Tobias played the alto saxophone in the influential Los Angeles-based punk band Out Of Order from 1989 to 1997. The band played the inaugural Vans/Warped festival traveled across the country, recorded three acclaimed albums, made appearances in TV commercials, film and a video game in addition to performing with legendary artists ranging from Dick Dale and Sublime to Bad Religion and Fishbone, helping the band garner an international following.
Tobias’s artistic and musical background was a perfect compliment for his love of skateboarding and surfing. As music and art can influence one’s self-expression on a board, self-expression on a board can also influence one’s personal art and music. This was true in Tobias’s old neighborhood, the South Bay of Los Angeles where bands like Black Flag and Descendents yelled their songs about their love of skating and surfing, helping mold a teenage Tobias’s values and principles to the same belief system that he follows today.
In 1997, Tobias began an internship at the Lambesis Global Branding Agency, where he quickly advanced, mastering all aspects of the agency’s creative work, from copywriting, art direction, product design and video editing to music composition and direction. As creative director at Lambesis, Farmer has overseen art direction and concept development for print, television, radio and interactive for clients such as Airwalk, bebe, SKYY Vodka, the Coca-Cola Company, TACORI, Campari, Nordstrom, Hard Rock Hotel and Hitachi as well as music composition and supervision for Morey Boogie, Airwalk, Martini and Rossi, Sunny Delight, Kit Kat, Hard Rock Hotels, Cutty Sark, the video game Fox Hunt and more.
Tobias is happily married with a son, daughter and three dogs.
